Spell, which we call “spooky as Hell” in our 5/5 review, is coming to home video! Omari Hardwick (“Power,” Sorry to Bother You), Loretta Devine (“Black-ish,” Crash), and John Beasley (The Sum of All Fears, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks) star in the terrifying thriller directed by Mark Tonderai and written by Kurt Wimmer. While flying to his father’s funeral in rural Appalachia, an intense storm causes Marquis (Omari Hardwick) to lose control of the plane carrying him and his family. He awakens wounded, alone, and trapped in Ms. Eloise’s (Loretta Devine) attic, who claims she can nurse him back to health with the Boogity, a Hoodoo figure she has made from his blood and skin. Loretta Devine Talks The Magic And The Horrors Of ‘Spell’ In Our Interview

When you hear certain actresses’ names, you know they will bring prestige to any film or series they star—actresses with an incredible talent that never fails to impress. Loretta Devine is one of those actresses. I’ve followed her career from Waiting to Exhale to the Urban Legend franchise, “Supernatural,” and everything in between. That includes her most recent role in the supernatural horror Spell from director Mark Tonderai and writer Kurt Wimmer. In Spell, Omari Hardwick stars as Marquis. He and his family leave the big city aboard his plane to return to the Tennesse mountains, where he was born, for his father’s funeral. When the plane is caught in a terrible storm, it crashes. Marquis wakes to find that he’s in the attic of Eloise (Mrs. Devine) and her husband, not knowing where his family is or that Eloise isn’t the kind of southern woman he thinks she is. Serious “root magic” is at play here that will change

Movie Review: ‘Spell’ Is A Horror Movie With Serious Mojo

There are a ton of horror movies released every year, so when one is released that’s original, clever, and truly horrifying it deserves to be celebrated. That’s why we are here to talk about Spell (2020), a brilliantly dark and twisted movie that you need to see! Omari Hardwick (“Power”) stars as Marquis T. Woods, a man who escaped his abusive father and the Kentucky mountains to become a big city lawyer with a beautiful family. When he gets the call that his father has died he and his family board his Cessna plane and head to the place he’s tried so hard to forget. Unfortunately, a terrible storm hits and the plane crashes. When he wakes up in the home of a strange couple he finds himself a prisoner and has no clue as to what happened to his family. He soon realizes that his rescuer (Loretta Devine) is skilled in the ways of Hoodoo and that his life
