Jon Bernthal’s Headed Back To “The Walking Dead”

One of the best love to hate/hate to love characters that has ever starred on “The Walking Dead” will soon be back. I’m talking about is wife-seducing, badass Shane Walsh, played by Jon Bernthal who now stars in Netflix’s “Punisher”. I know what you’re thinking, Shane died on the farm. But Bernthal has returned before, in season 3, during a hallucination scene. He’s coming back again for season 9. Today, TV Line confirmed that Bernthal will be returning as Shane once again for one episode of this upcoming season. We expect it to be in some form of a flashback or hallucination since he’s officially dead on the series. Season 9 is still months away and already a ton of bad news has already come to light, including that both Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan are leaving this season. The good news is that Norman Reedus has been offered a huge raise ($20 million) to take the lead.

In the trailer we finally get a good look at Frank Castle aka Punisher, played by The Walking Dead’s Jon Bernthal (Shane) and he looks totally badass! In season one of Netflix’s original series we followed Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) as he became the masked hero Daredevil. In season two we will watch as Daredevil evolves, Murdock deals with living two lives, lawyer by day – hero by night and conflict between him and his best friend, as well as dealing with the city’s scum. As if his life wasn’t complex enough, he will now have to contend with Frank Castle, who becomes Punisher, a vigilante out to destroy the men who murdered his family and clean up the street of Hell’s Kitchen. Season one was action-packed, intense and completely awesome, by far the best series Netflix has created yet. With Jon Bernthal now part of the cast,

Now that the series is preparing to film season 2, the new cast announcements are beginning to come in. Earlier today I learned that ‘The Walking Dead’ actor Jon Bernthal has signed on to play the role of Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher. The character Frank Castle/The Punisher was created by comic book writer Gerry Conway and artists Ross Andru and John Romita Sr., publisher Stan Lee gave the character his name. The first appearance of the character in ‘The Amazing Spider Man’ issue 129. Castle’s back story is a sad one. The ex Marine, along with his wife Maria and their children witnessed a Mafia execution.
