‘It Came From The Desert’ And It’s Headed To Your House This May

Back in 1989, Cinemaware released a game called It Came from the Desert, inspired by the 1950’s creatures features. Now, the game’s film adaptation is gearing up for its release next week from Roger! Pictures. You think ants at a picnic is bad, imagine giant mutated ants wreaking havoc in the desert. That’s exactly what this flick is about. “This pulpy, action monster movie is a nostalgic tribute to creature features from the 1950’s; it features rival motocross heroes and heroines, kegger parties in the desert, secret underground military bases, romantic insecurities…and of course, giant ants!” Directed by Marko Mäkilaakso (interview), who told us the film was also influenced by Eight Legged Freaks, It Came from the Desert was co-written by Hank Woon (Age of Dinosaurs) and Trent Haaga (68 Kill), and stars Vanessa Grasse, Mark Arnold, Harry Lister Smith, Claudia Trujillo, Alex Mills, and Aino Sirje. Horror Fuel: “What inspired you to adapt It Came From the Dessert from the 1989 game?” Mäkilaakso: “I actually wanted to make a motocross-action-comedy set in a desert with big spiders and 80’s vibe. That’s how it all started! The idea was inspired by “Eight legged freaks” and Cinemaware’s classic ”It came from the desert” game.
