Putting Opinions To Bed After Watching All Three ‘Ghostbusters’ Films

In recent years, there’s still a lot of talk about the “Ghostbusters” franchise, may it be about the anticipation of the long-awaited third installment, or the controversy still plaguing the 2016 reboot. The reboot has caused such a flare-up of toxic masculinity/femininity that it’s one of those films no one really wants to talk about or get into. Well, I don’t really have an opinion on the reboot because…I’ve never seen it, so I wanted to change that. I decided to do a “Ghostbusters” marathon and watch all three films in a row and give an honest opinion on them. WARNING: Potential Spoilers Ahead To keep it fair, I watched the theatrical versions of all three. I can’t really say a whole lot about the first (original) film Ghostbusters because out of the three it was the best. The problems seem to start with Ghostbusters 2. The problem right away in the 1989 sequel is there seems to be a

First Art Arrives For Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters

The first art is here from Sony’s new sequel to Ghostbusters, directed by Jason Reitman. While it is NOT an official poster, the art has an interesting tagline, “You know who to call”, a twist on the original’s “Who you gonna call?” But things could change before next year’s release. Finn Wolfhard (“Stranger Things”, IT), McKenna Grace (Captain Marvel), and Carrie Coon (widows) have already joined the cast as the family at the heart of the film that has “moved back home to a small town where they learn more about who they are.” Filming is set to begin this summer on the sequel that will completely bypass Paul Feig’s 2016 female-driven remake. Reitman directs from the script he co-wrote with Gil Kenan. Ghostbusters will open in theaters on July 10, 2020.

Audition Tapes Reveal New Ghostbusters

While it’s been rumored that the original Ghostbusters will be returning for the new movie, nothing has been 100% confirmed. What do we know is that the movie will be passing the torch to a new generation. According to the audition tapes dug up by HN Entertainment, the new Ghostbusters will be kids. One of the kids to have landed a major role is 12-year-old actress Sarah Abbott. When they said young, they meant it. It sounds like they are taking a note from the “Stranger Things” playbook. Director Jason Reitman has teased a few details about the movie. I’ve always thought of myself as the first Ghostbusters fan when I was a 6-year-old visiting the set. I wanted to make a movie for all the other fans,” the publication quoted Reitman as saying. “This is the next chapter in the original franchise. It is not a reboot. What happened in the ’80s happened in the ’80s, and this is

Ghostbuster Ernie Hudson Says “Everybody’s In” For New Movie

A few days ago we shared the first teaser for the new Ghostbusters movie. Directed by Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman who directed the first two films, this movie will completely bypass the 2016 bomb. The big question has been will the original cast be returning? According to UK’s Daily Mail, all three surviving Ghostbusters will be back which they learned during an interview with Ernie Hudson, who starred as Winston in the first two films. After reminiscing about his friendship with Harold Ramis, who played Egon, Hudson said: “I miss [Ramis], but his spirit is there.” He continued, “But Ivan Reitman is there and everybody is in.” “Now whether the studio will do it, I’m the guy who sits by the phone and waits for the call. So if they call, I’ll answer. If not, I’ve got other stuff that I’m doing.” Dan Aykroyd teased last year that “there is a possibility of a reunion with the three
