‘Flatliners’ Flatlines At The Box Office

The remake/sequel/bad idea that is “Flatliners” wasn’t met with a warm reception when it was released Friday, getting a 3% on Rotten Tomatoes and a mere $9.8 million worldwide, on a $20 million budget. Include marketing expenses and it looks like “Flatliners” is one of the biggest flops of the year. While the remake train has slowed down in recent years, this is yet another lesson for Hollywood that audiences don’t want rehashed and underwhelming adaptations of stories we already love. Because seriously, the original “Flatliners” is pretty damn good and can be rented for $3 on Google Play. And you get to watch it from the comfort of your couch while sipping on a beer. So basically, eat it Ellen Page (for the record Ellen Page is a great actress and a wonderful human being, who just needs to make a few better choices in what she decides to star in.)

Original Actor Joins Cast Of The Flatliners Remake

Back in March we reported that Flatliners is getting a remake. In April we posted an update announcing that The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev had joined the remake’s cast. Well, today we have big casting news. Kiefer Sutherland, who played the role of Nelson in the original film, has committed and entered final negotiations to return for the new movie, according to Deadline. Sutherland will join Dobrev, Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Kiersey Clemens and James Norton in the remake, directed Neils Arden Oplev (Mr. Robot) based on the script penned by Ben Ripley (Source Code). Laurence Mark and Michael Douglas will be producing. Filming for Flatliners is slated to begin this July. Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, Julia Roberts, William Baldwin and Oliver Platt starred in Joel Schumacher’s 1990 supernatural thriller about a group of medical students who put their training to the test. Each one of the friends take their turn dying, briefly, to see what is on the other

Vampire Diaries Actress To Star In The Flatliners Reboot

We reported back in March that Flatliners would be joining the long (long, long, long) list of remakes/reboots coming over the next few years. Now, we have learned via The Wrap that The Vampire Diaries’ Nina Dobrev is currently in talks with Sony Pictures to join the reboot’s cast, which already includes Ellen Page (Inception) and Diego Luna (Elysium). Dobrev currently plays several roles on The Vampire Diaries including Elena Gilbert, a vampire and the doppelganger of Katherine Pierce, a centuries old vampire. Yes, it gets a bit confusing, especially when they are both in an episode. There is one thing, besides the same appearance, that both characters have in common, they have both loved brothers Damon ( Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley). Neils Arden Oplev (Mr. Robot) is set to direct from the script penned by Ben Ripley (Source Code) with Laurence Mark and Michael Douglas producing. Filming for Flatliners is slated to begin this July. Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon,

Flatliners Joins The List Of Remakes For 2017

There is currently a remake of the 1990’s supernatural thriller Flatliners in the works, according to THR. Niels Arden Oplev (Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) is set to direct the film that will be penned by Ben Ripley. Elysium actor Diego Page is currently in negotiations to star opposite Ellen Page. The original Flatliners was directed by Joel Schumacher and starred Kevin Bacon, Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Oliver Platt and William Baldwin. In the film four medical students set out to conduct an experimenter to discover what comes after death. Each student takes their turn having their heart stopped in an attempt to discover what lies beyond before being revived. During the experiment each person is haunted by traumatic events from their pasts, but when they return to life the lines between life and the afterlife are blurred. Many horror fans have expressed that they have grown tired of remakes/reboots and I agree. Some critics may welcome a new version
