Universal To Adapt Riley Sager’s Novel ‘Final Girls’ For Feature Film

Universal Pictures has obtained the rights to Riley Sager’s novel ‘Final Girls’ that was published by Dutton this past July. Praised by Stephen King, the novel has been compared to a horror version of ‘Gone Girl’. In the novel: “Ten years ago, college student Quincy Carpenter went on vacation with five friends and came back alone, the only survivor of a horror movie–scale massacre. In an instant, she became a member of a club no one wants to belong to—a group of similar survivors known in the press as the Final Girls. Lisa, who lost nine sorority sisters to a college dropout’s knife; Sam, who went up against the Sack Man during her shift at the Nightlight Inn; and now Quincy, who ran bleeding through the woods to escape Pine Cottage and the man she refers to only as Him. The three girls are all attempting to put their nightmares behind them and, with that, one another. Despite the media’s

Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Amy Steel

Hallo wieder meine Kleinen Monster (that’s “hello again my Little Monsters” to you and me, Rusty). It’s Wednesday again; August 30th of 2017 to be exact. And if you’re counting down like I am, you’ll also know that means HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis is a mere NINE DAYS AWAY (still seems like too many). That being said, I have chosen one of the guests that will be appearing as she who I have chose to highlight today. Of course you’ve likely seen the images above, so you already know this week’s wonderful Woman of Horror is Amy Steel. Amy is another type of Steel to come out of Pennsylvania, albeit not the rust belt variety. She grew up in West Chester, and around the time she began studying acting at the Westtown School is when her career began to take shape. With two summers of dramatic training under her belt, Amy joined Lionville, PA’s Barley Sheaf Players, starring in two

Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Adrienne King

Here we are again, my Little Monsters. It’s Wednesday, and I am almost three days removed from the festivities at Days of the Dead, here in Indianapolis. In fact, it was at this years convention that I met this week’s wonderful Woman of Horror, Adrienne King. Born in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York, Adrienne got into the business quite early, having made an appearance in an Ivory Soap commercial at the age of six months old. Yes, you read that right – six months old. When she was nine years old, Adrienne portrayed the character of Melinda in the 1965 Hallmark Hall of Fame television film production of Inherit the Wind. After graduation from Oyster Bay High School, Adrienne was accepted to attend New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology where she majored in Fine Art. She would also take jazz dance classes, under the tutelage of Phil Black, that would hone her skills as a performer. After graduating from

Woman (In Horror) Crush Wednesday: Heather Langencamp

Here we are on another Woman Crush Wednesday, my Little Monsters, and today’s wonderful Woman of Horror, as you can plainly see, is Heather Langencamp. Heather is an Oklahoma native, born and raised in Tulsa. She attended Holland Hall School in Tulsa, but would move to Washington D.C. where she would attend and graduate from The National School for Girls. When Heather began acting, it took three attempts to make her debut. Her first try came in 1983 as an extra in Francis Ford Coppola’s big screen adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s novel, The Outsiders. Unfortunately her scene found its way to the cutting room floor. That same year she would be cast as an extra in yet another Coppola adaptation of an S.E. Hinton novel entitled Rumble Fish. And even though she actually had a speaking part this time, her contribution would go unseen and unheard, as it again ended up on the cutting room floor. The upside to this

Movie Review: Final Girl (2015)

This morning I sat down to watch a movie that I had heard good things about, Final Girl. The film, directed by Tyler Shields, opened with a young girl sitting across a table from a stranger (Wes Bentley). During their conversation the man asks the girl a series of questions, gauging her answers to see if she is the girl he’s looking for. It’s revealed during the questioning that both of the girl’s parents are dead. He asks if she wants to come with him, so that he can train her. Her response? “Can I have ice cream?” Maybe it’s just me, but I would be asking a few more questions. In the next scene we see him teaching Veronica (Abigail Breslin) to fight. Her mission is assigned, take down a ring of killer friends, who like to hunt down blonde girls for fun. Of course, she sets it up where she happens to catch their attention. The leader of
