It’s been a minute since we’ve had an update about the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre installment being produced by Fede Alvarez, the man behind Don’t Breathe and the Evil Dead reboot. Today we can report that the movie is a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s original 1974 classic. During a conversation with The Boo Crew Podcast, Alvarez confirmed it. He also revealed that the movie is set many years after the events of the first film and that we will see Leatherface as an older man. It is a direct sequel, and it is the same character. It is old man Leatherface.“ He went on to describe the movie as “old school”. “Everything is classic, old school gags.A lot of the approach that we had with Evil Dead – never VFX, to do everything on camera. It’s a very old school approach to filmmaking. Vintage lenses… it’s very similar to the original film.” Cinematographer turned director David Blue Garcia is

Fede Alvarez Teases New Details About His ‘Evil Dead’ Franchise

2013’s Evil Dead, long considered a remake of the 1981 classic, put a female lead character (Jane Levy) in the place of the original’s character Ash Williams played by Bruce Campbell (interview). While the character lacked Campbell’s charisma, the film was twice as bloody, pleasing gorehounds. Director Fede Alvarez recently revealed when questioned by a fan that the film was not a remake, but a sequel. It continues the first one, The coincidences on events between the first film and mine are not coincidences, but more like dark fate created by the evil book.” But that’s not all he revealed. He stated that he’s not done with the Evil Dead franchise. Earlier this year he was asked if there would be a sequel. Look, I love those movies,” Alvarez stated during a talk with Ew. “Making my Evil Dead was an amazing experience, it was my first film. So going back at some point will be a possibility. I mean,

‘Don’t Breathe’ Director Is Taking Us Back To The LABYRINTH Universe

Fede Alvarez is leaving his mark on the horror genre with films like Don’t Breathe and Evil Dead. Now, the incredibly talented director is about to take us back to the Labyrinth universe, a place etched into the minds of an entire generation (and more). Alvarez’s next project is The Girl in the Spider’s Web, but that’s not what here about today. The project that will follow The Girl in the Spider’s Web is. It is a movie that “will delve into the universe Jim Henson hatched in the 1986 cult classic,” Labyrinth. Alvarez will co-write the untitled project with Jay Basu. Before you freak out, the film will NOT be a remake and will NOT feature David Bowie’s character Jareth (because no one can replace Bowie). It will be completely original, Deadline reports. Labyrinth is one of the seminal movies from my childhood that made me fall in love with filmmaking,” Alvarez said. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to

Fede Alvarez Confirms He Will Make Don’t Breathe 2

Fede Alvarez’s hit home-invasion film ‘Don’t Breathe‘ has been a huge success, raking in $152 million at the box office alone, which is pretty impressive for a film that cost $10 million to make. I expect the Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD numbers will be impressive as well. Taking the numbers in consideration, it’s no surprise that a sequel is in the works. Alvarez revealed to Coming Soon that after he wraps production on his next film, ‘The Girl in the Spider Web’, the sequel to ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’, he will begin working on ‘Don’t Breathe 2’. In ‘Don’t Breathe’, Jane Levy, who also starred in Alvarez’s Evil Dead, plays the role of Rocky, a young woman desperate for money who goes along with her boyfriend Money (Daniel Zovato) and their friend Alex (Dylan Minnette) on what they think is easy score. The trio target a blind man (Stephen Lang), but after breaking into his home they

Evil Dead Writers To Adapt Monsterpocalypse For Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. has officially won the biding war over the film rights to Monsterpocalypse. Evil Dead‘s Fede Alavarez has signed on to direct the film as well as co-write the screenplay along with his fellow Evil Dead alum Rodo Sayagues. The film is an adaption of Pivateer Press’ board game by the same name, which pits humans in robotic suits against monsters. This isn’t the first time Monsterpocalypse has been in the works. Back in 2010 the film was set to enter preproduction with Tim Burton directing, but the film stalled when Guillermo del Toro began work on a competing film, Pacific Rim. Figuring that fans only needed one humans versus monsters movie at the time, Monsterpocalypse was put on the back burner. Alavarez and Sayagues are a winning team. They have worked on several projects together, including Evil Dead and for Don’t Breathe, set to be released on August 25th. Don’t Breathe follows a group of friends who break
