Just Say No To George Lucas (Episode II)

Prequels It’s tempting to leave the brilliant Mr. Plinkett Star Wars prequel reviews to suffice for this post. I think they should be used in film classes everywhere. Red Letter Media’s brilliant look at what went wrong with the franchise is without equal and perfectly nails everything wrong with three installments that scarred memories and almost derailed a franchise. The critiques are raunchy and in terrible taste but they are also funny as hell and exquisite. See all of them HERE There are multiple parts for each film, but every single one of them is worth it. Cynema: Ed Wood–Hollywood’s Whipping Boy

No Respect Apparently Michael Medved, the respected film critic gets the credit with dubbing Edward Wood, Jr. the “worst director of all time” by referring to Wood’s crowning film achievement, Plan Nine From Outer Space as perhaps the worst motion picture ever made. This is not only to come to the late Mr. Wood’s defense, but to also show how off the mark Mr. Medved was in his 1980 book The Golden Turkey Awards. Wood is the antithesis of Cynema–his passion and love for film makes him one of Hollywood’s greatest directors. Say what you want about Plan Nine, Bride of the Monster or Glen or Glenda…bad films, yes. Bad directing, absolutely. However Ed Wood was not a cynic. This column will show why films like Jaws The Revenge, Godzilla 1998 and other big budget films are far worse than anything Ed Wood ever put out, including Plan 9. Demonic ‘Fantasia’ Segment To Become A Feature Film

The 2009 Disney musical masterpiece Fantasia, consisting of eight segments, combined animation and classical music. Now the third segment of the musical feature, titled ‘Night on Bald Mountain’, is set to become a feature film. In the segment we witness a winged demon, meant to represent the Devil, descend on a mountain town, raising the dead and other demons, who dance in celebration of their dark master. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the writers of ‘Dracula Untold’ and the up coming film ‘The Last Witch Hunter’, are set to write the script that will transform the animated section into a live action feature. At this time there is no word on when the film will be released.

Guillermo del Toro Making The Reboot Of ‘The Haunted Mansion’ Starring Ryan Gosling

‘The Haunted Mansion’, based on the ride at Disney parks, by the same name, has been talking about a reboot for a while, it seems that a new movie is now finally going into pre-production. It seems Disney has roped in Guillermo del Toro , the entertainment genius behind ‘The Strain’, ‘Pans’s Labyinth’, ‘Hellboy’ and ‘Crimson Peak’, for the project. D.V. DeVincentis is writing the new script for ‘The Haunted Mansion’, which has already signed ‘Gangster Squad’ and ‘The Notebook’ actor Ryan Gosling for a role in the new film. Del Toro has already made the statement that this won’t be a children’s movie like the previous version. Del Toro had this to say about the movie: ‘If you take the children, they’ll scream.” There is no word yet when the spooky movie might be released.
