Enjoy Your Coffee With ‘The Cup Of Cthulhu’ By Storm Crow

It’s no mystery that H.P. Lovecraft liked coffee, it’s actually one of his most know quotes: I like coffee exceedingly” And it’s also ironic that across the spot of Lovecraft’s birthplace at 454 Angell Street in Providence Rhode Island is a Starbucks. So what more could a fan of both Lovecraft and Coffee want? How about The Cup of Cthulhu by Storm Crow a chain of Nerd-Bars in Canada that caters to us who love pop culture and want to break away from the typical bar scene. This insolated travel mug as you can see is a parody of the Starbucks logo (see above the irony). The cup itself is double-walled steel that keeps your drink hot/cold for eons (well a few hours but we can dream right?). The handle on the top is convenient for if your hands are full and you want to loop your finger through it like Cthulhu’s tendril looping through someone’s sanity, the handle as

Sink Your Teeth Into The Lovecraft Inspired Cookbook “Necronomnomnom”

Looking for a devilish twist on dinner? We’ve got a cookbook that will be right up our alley, The Necronomnomnom: Recipes and Rites from the Lore of H. P. Lovecraft cookbook! The book provides recipes for dishes inspired by the stories and characters of the Lovecraftian universe and is filled with puns and references to Lovecraft characters, The Necronomnomnom is as fun as it is eerie. The recipes are written in the style of the Necronomicon, Lovecraft’s fictional grimoire which contained incantations to summon the Old Ones. Rather than being told to slice a roll to prepare a sandwich, you’ll instead be told, “Using a ceremonial blade prepared with the proper incantations, remove the center of star from the top of the bun; ignore any protest from the bun.” Within this book you’ll find recipes for Byakhee Gyro, based off the fictional race of interstellar beings; Nog-Sothoth: The Liquor at the Punch Bowl is inspired by the Yog-Sothoth, a cosmic

Game Review: Lovecraft Floods The Streets In ‘The Sinking City’

You thought your daily commute is bad? Try being a citizen of Oakmont, their streets are flooded and things are starting to get crazy, figuratively and literally! Frogwares and Bigben Interactive were kind enough to allow me to experience their game that’s flooding with Lovecraftian horrors like the streets of Oakmont. I present to you, The Sinking City. In this third-person RPG, you take on the role of former U.S. Navy Sailor turned Private Eye Charles S. Reed. Reed came to the fictional island of Oakmont to find answers to his nightmares and visions he’s been having since the war as it appears many people on the island are experiencing the same phenomenon. Upon arriving at the island, Reed learns that the city is falling into ruin as a great flood has taken place and strange creatures are coming from the flood waters and a mysterious force is calling to those inflicted with nightmares and visions… Onto the game itself!

Lovcraftian Looking Fossil Named After Cthulhu

Scientists have discovered the fossilized remains of a previously undiscovered prehistoric sea cucumber species and compared to their modern descendants, these old ones (pun intended) are something out of a nightmare…a Lovecraftian nightmare! The 430 million-year-old fossil was scanned using 3-D technology and was able to trace out the body and its many tentacle-like legs. It’s believed that these legs were used to help the animal crawl around the sea bed and where covered in a flexible armor. According to the findings that were published by an international team, the creature is being called, Sollasina Cthulhu. Sollasina’s are a class of prehistoric Echinoderms. Modern and older species in this class share the same traits that they’re armored with a flexible skin that sometimes has spines on them, the most notable modern species would be starfishes, sea urchins, and of course sea cucumbers. Cthulhu, if you already don’t know, is a fictitious creature created by horror icon H.P. Lovecraft in his

A Psychological Tightrope: Final Thoughts Of ‘The Call Of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game’

Since my review of “The Call of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game”, I’ve played the game twice and have enough to give my final thoughts. The following will contain spoilers as I explain the overall main plot as it may be confusing to those who have played the game and have questions, but at the end (My final thoughts) are spoiler free if you wish to skip down to that. SPOILERS AHEAD! Some of the information I’ll skip over as it’s been mentioned in my review. On the island of Darkwater, the locals are obsessed with a legendary story about the “Miraculous Catch”, the whaling community was starving as the whales seemed to have vanished from the waters surrounding the island in the 1840’s. One whaling ship came back missing half its crew that was lost during the fight to catch this gigantic “Whale” that fed the entire island. Three of the island’s inhabitants, Captain Fitzroy, Dr. Fuller, and Jack

A Nightmarish Dream Come True: Review Of ‘Call Of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game’

It’s no secret, I’ve been waiting to wrap my tentacles around Cyanide Studio & Focus Home Interactive’s game “The Call of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game”, I’ve waited patiently for the game’s release but the good folks at Focus Home Interactive gave me a copy, and all I can say about this game is wow! First, let’s get the basics of the story out of the way. You play as a private detective named Edward Pierce from Boston. Pierce is tormented by constant nightmares that may be a result of the action he’s seen in the First World War, his lighter hints of his trauma with the engraving “Lost Battalion 10-7-18” implying Pierce is one of the 194 survivors from one of the most intense battles in WW1. Self-medicating with bootleg hooch and sleeping pills, Pierce is approached by a wealthy industrialist to investigate the death of his daughter and famous painter Sara Hawkins. Hawkins died along with her husband

Gameplay Trailer For ‘The Sinking City’ Shows A Wet & Creepy World

Things are going Lovecraft for horror games it seems! Frogwares and Bigben Interactive will be taking players to the city of Oakmont in “The Sinking City”. The game takes place in the 1920’s and the city of Oakmont is, well…sinking, but that’s not the worst of it. The citizens are being tormented by supernatural forces and creatures coming from the water. You take on the role of a detective who is going through personal issues (like most detectives in these kinds of stories) and venturing into the city is not helping. “The Sinking City” is an open world game where you have to travel to different locations by boat. There are side missions along with the main quest, all of which can be completed in a multitude of ways. Seeing disturbing things will make the player loose sanity for a bit. The best part is fans of the works of Lovecraft can see many Easter eggs in relations to Lovecraft’s
