‘Antebellum’ Won’t Premiere In August After All

Just as Lionsgate’s Antebellum was nearing it’s August the 21st premiere date, the film has been delayed again, this time with no premiere date in sight. In fact, it has been removed for the schedule altogether. The question is, was the film removed due to the pandemic or because of the subject matter as tensions continue to rise surrounding the Black Lives Matters movement. This is the second time the film has been rescheduled already, it was originally set to open in theaters this Spring. Antebellum, written and directed by Gerard Bush and Christoper Renz (Bush+Renz), takes us on the nail-biting journey of successful author Veronica Henley (Janelle Monáe) as she finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality as she finds her self enslaved. To return home, she must uncover the mind-bending mystery before it’s too late. Kiersey Clemons, Jena Malone, Jack Huston, Eric Lange, Gabourey Sidibe, and Robert Aramayo also star. What Makes ‘Contagion’ The Most Relevant “Horror” Film Right Now?

Alright first off, true, Contagion is not really a horror film, but a thriller but due to recent events going on around the world, it might as well be as there are so many creepy similarities boarding lining with Simpsonsesque foresight which is why the film is more relevant now than when it came out in 2011. What adds credence to the film is the outpouring of praise and support by the scientific community that applaud the film’s showing of what goes on behind the scenes when scientists are put on the front line to fight a pandemic. For those not familiar with the film, Contagion follows the spread of a new (fictitious) virus that becomes known as MEV-1 and how it spread quickly around the world causing mass panic and death while the CDC along with other organizations struggle to find a way to combat the virus as misinformation spreads. WARNING THERE ARE SPOILERS AHEAD! The Virus The MEV-1

Debunking “100 Years Pandemic” Meme

Now that social distancing, lockdowns, and shelter in place events are going on around the globe, many people have time on their hands… so much so that they’re now posting clips from bogus articles that first appeared in January of this year and shared on many not so relevant/scholarly/trustworthy news sites, today Horror fuel is challenging these claims! According to the article and the meme that was birthed from it, every 100 years there’s a major pandemic and that we should be worried. The article and meme mention the 1720 Plague, the 1820 Cholera Outbreak, the 1920 Spanish Flu, and tops it off with the misnamed 2020 “Chinese” Flu. Let’s start off with the first claim, the 1720 Plague which is convenient that it appears that’s when recorded human history must have begun according to the ones who began these claims as no other years are mentioned before this one.
