‘Cloverfield’ Is Finally Getting A Direct Sequel

Back in 2008, there were discussions of a possible new direct sequel to Matt Reeve‘s highly acclaimed monster movie Cloverfield, which spawned 10 Cloverfield Land and The Cloverfield Paradox which both went in new directions. A proper sequel to Cloverfield never materialized, until now. Paramount and Bad Robot have now hired Joe Baron, the showrunner for HBO’s “The Batman”, to pen the script for the direct sequel which will be see J.J Abrams return as a producer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the true sequel has now entered development. One thing will be different from the original though, it will not be found-footage. While details are still slim we also know that the original movie’s director Matt Reeves will not be involved. J.J. Abrams Confirms ‘Overlord’ Is NOT Part Of The Cloverfield Franchise

Earlier this week, J.J. Abrams released footage from his new flick Overlord during CinemaCon and it proved that the movie all horror! Abrams also made it clear that the film, Bad Robot’s first R-Rated film, is NOT part of the Cloverfield franchise. But don’t worry, he did confirm that a sequel to the Cloverfield franchise is in the works. The folks over at Joblo got the scoop, saying: The footage we saw featured Wyatt Russell, Bokeem Woodbine and a cast of relative unknowns in traditional WW2 paratrooper gear jumping in as planes blow up around them, before finally getting to the ground, linking up and heading out. We see them discover the heavily-guarded facility and infiltrate it, which is when everything gets a little crazy.” They continue: “We see a bunch of bloody, zombie-like creatures, obviously, people that have been experimented on, vials of a red substance (which is injected into one of the soldiers and seems to give him

Future “Cloverfield” Films Will Make It To The Theatre

The Super Bowl’s biggest surprise wasn’t The Patriot’s defeat, (fly Eagles fly!) but the release of “The Cloverfield Paradox” on Netflix, right after the game. The Cloverfield Franchise has a history of unique marketing, but announcing the impending release of an entry in one of cinema’s most intriguing franchises just hours in advance is pretty ballsy. The next film in the series however, the WW2 set Overlord will be making it’s way to theaters, according to thewrap.com. Netflix reportedly paid $5o Million dollars to Paramount for the exclusive right’s to Paradox, a hefty price tag the company might not be keen to repeat. Paradox has so far been panned by critics, with a score of 21 on Rotten Tomatoes to most recent entry 10 Cloverfield Lane’s 90. Netflix doesn’t typically release viewership numbers, but The Super Bowl itself was viewed by 103 million people. That’s a whole lot of eyes on an ad, even if a few people got up

‘The Cloverfield Paradox’ Gets Surprise Release On Netflix!

Ten years after the events of Cloverfield, we find out why they happened. Not only has Netflix Acquired The Cloverfield Paradox, the third film of the franchise, without warning it premieres tonight following the Super Bowl!! It had been given a theatrical release date this April, but SURPRISE! To top it all off, the teaser trailer has just aired and promises that the film will answer the question of why the creatures arrived in the first film. WWII Set ‘Overlord’ Revealed To Be The Fourth Film Of The ‘Cloverfield’ Franchise

Back in June, we reported that there were rumors that J.J. Abrams’ WWII set Overlord was rumored to be the fourth film in the Cloverfield universe. Today, we can confirm that it is true (via Slash Films). Overlord, set on the eve of D-Day, follows a group of American paratroopers who are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success, but as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment. The Seguel/Spin-Off Of Cloverfield Is Coming!

News comes this morning that after years of rumors the sequel/spin-off to 2008’s Cloverfield is not only real, it’s wrapped filming and is set to land in theaters on March 11th and there is a trailer! Paramount has confirmed it. The title of the film is 10 Cloverfield Lane. 10 Cloverfield Lane stars John Goodman, Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher Jr. The film centers on a woman who wakes up to realize she is being held in a cellar by Goodman’s character, who believes there has been a nuclear disaster, but when she escapes she realizes that there is something happening and really was trying to protect her. The film is not a true sequel. It is more of a spin-off. It takes place in a different location than the events that took place in Cloverfield.
