I recently sat down to watch the new horror film Blood Conscious by writer-director Timothy Covell. The film follows Brittany (DeShawn White), her brother Kevin (Oghenero Gbaje), and her boyfriend Tony (Lenny Thomas) as they head to a cabin to join her mother and father for some family time. Unfortunately, things go very wrong for the trio when they find that an armed man has murdered their parents and their neighbors. His reasoning, they weren’t people anymore, they were demons. This movie has a character problem. Right off to bat we learn that Tony’s a prick, Brittany lets him walk over her and her brother and Kevin is weak. These are the characters we are meant to care for, cheer for? They are mostly unlikable with Kevin being the only halfway redeemable character in the film. The next issue are the demons. They look like people and act like people, save for a higher level of aggression. The fact that

Dark Sky Films is gearing to release two tales of terror on DVD this September, Night Drive and Blood Conscious. In Night Drive, “Russell (AJ Bowen – You’re Next, The Signal) is a driver in Los Angeles who’s reeling from a series of bad decisions. While his life seems to be caught in a downward spiral, a business proposition from an alluring but enigmatic passenger named Charlotte (Sophie Dalah – Unbroken, Dead Night) proves too good to turn down. A simple ride turns deadly, catapulting Russell into an even darker place, but Charlotte may be the key to a second chance he thought he’d never have… if he can make it through the night.” Bradford Baruh, the filmmaker that brought you John Dies at the End, directed Night Drive alongside Meghan Leon who penned the script. Blood Conscious, starring Nick Damici (“Hap and Leonard”, Dark Was the Night), centers on Kevin, his older sister, Brittney, and her fiancé, Tony, set

Terror strikes when a family on vacation is confronted by a killer in writer-director Timothy Covell‘s Blood Conscious. Starring Nick Damici, DeShawn White, Lenny Thomas, and Oghenero Gbaje, the film centers on Kevin, his older sister, Brittney, and her fiancé, Tony, who set off to their parents’ lakeside cottage expecting a leisurely weekend getaway, but little did they expect the horror that awaits them. Their holiday turns into a trip from hell as they enter a scene of mass murder, where their parents and neighbors lie dead. As unexpected and traumatic events keep unfolding, they will have to find a way to survive the night without turning on each other, or becoming possessed. Blood Conscious opens in theaters, and lands on VOD and Digital on August 20, 2021, from Dark Sky Films.

Writer/Director Timothy Covell’s Blood Conscious is a gripping horror thriller that touches on social commentary while delivering a good share of excitement and paranoia. Brittney (DeShawn White), her university student younger brother Kevin (Oghenero Gbaje), and her fiancée Tony (Lenny Thomas) travel to Brittney’s and Kevin’s family lakeside cabin in the woods for a relaxing getaway with their parents. They explore the eerily quiet surroundings and Kevin discovers the bodies of his parents and their neighbors, who have all been shot or otherwise violently killed. The perpetrator — Nick Damici as “The Stranger” — sneaks up on them, demanding to know at gunpoint whether they are humans or, as he claims, demons who replaced the murder victims before he disposed of them. The trio manages to overcome the stranger and lock him in the basement, where he continues to shout that they should protect themselves from the demons, who are on their way. Though Brittney and Tony insist that his
