Trailer for ‘The Cured’ Seems Familiar…

Warning: Potential spoilers ahead! I’m a fan of zombies, I’m a fan of movies, so, therefore, I’m a fan of (a good) zombie movie. When I heard about a new movie starring Ellen Page coming out called The Cured about zombies that were cured and trying to re-enter society, I thought, “Oh they made In the Flesh into a movie?” but after seeing the trailer and reading what critics are saying, I’ll be honest I was shocked. Many are hailing the upcoming Irish film as “original” and “unique” but what I saw is a copy of an original. Over time many zombie films have had little moments where zombies act human again or show signs that they remember a small part of themselves, granted usually for dramatic effect before they are killed right before the eyes of a past loved one. In 2013 there was Warm Bodies, a horror rom-com about a zombie falling in love with a human girl

‘Sherlock’ Brain-trust To Create A New ‘Dracula’ Series

Hello again my Little Monsters, as you may have read in the title, it appears that a new Dracula series is in the works from the folks at the BBC (that’s The British Broadcasting Corporation to you and me, Rusty). After their monumentally successful modernization of the tales of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s legendary sleuth in the television series Sherlock, the writers and producers of the popular series are focusing their gaze on a new incarnation of Bram Stoker’s equally legendary “Prince of Darkness”. Sherlock series writers Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat will be on board again to handle writing duties, while Sue Vertue’s company Hartswood Films will handle all producorial aspects. This will be a reunion of sorts for Gattis and Moffat, who haven’t collaborated on a project since Series 4 of Sherlock. Despite their present work on solo projects, Gatiss and Moffat have begun talks with the BBC on this new series. Granted, there will likely be no

Why You Absolutely Should Be Watching Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell.

Saturday (June 13th) was the premiere of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell on BBC America, and if you didn’t watch it, you definitely should have. Why? Because it’s awesome, and because I said so. . .what are you still doing here? Why aren’t you checking to see if it’s On-Demand or something? Oh fine, if you won’t just take my word for it I guess I’ll try and explain why it’s awesome, and why you should be watching it. Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell is based on the Hugo Award-winning novel of the same name, written by Susanna Clarke. Never having read the book, I can’t speak to the television series’ quality as an adaptation, but as someone who does watch a butt-load of television, I can speak to its quality as an excellent TV show. The series is extremely original and innovative, exploring territory that is very rarely explored in either movies or television, alternate history. Hold on, before
