New “Stranger Things” Trailer Introduces A New Spooky Location

It’s been a long two years since we’ve seen Eleven and the gang in “Stranger Things,” but season four is finally heading our way. Today, the release date was finally announced (during the TUDUM event), but that’s not all, we’ve also got a new teaser trailer, that takes us out of Hawkings and to a new location, the Creel House, an old Victorian home filled with mysteries. The cast and writing team have stated that Season 4 is going to take the show’s story out of its smalltown home, opening things up for a bigger, more ambitious scope, that includes Russia where David Harbour is being held, a prisoner with the group believing that he’s dead, having sacrificed himself. “I mean, it’s bigger, that’s the first thing. In scope, in scale, even in the idea that we’re not in Hawkins anymore. We, locale-wise, we’re bigger. We’re introducing new stuff, but we’re also tightening and wrapping up in a certain direction

The award-winning British folk horror Sacrilege, from writer-director David Creed, is set to make its American arrival later this month, and demands that you “face your fears”. Tamaryn Payne (Hollyoaks), Emily Wyatt (Rise of the Footsoldier), Sian Abrahams (Complete Strangers), Naomi Willow (A Guide to Second Date Sex), and Ian Champion (Property) star in the film, that follows four lifelong friends who head to a remote lodge for a weekend of fun. Much of the film was shot in the nearby Forest of Dean, as well as Weston-Super-Mare. The film made its UK premiere in March of 2020 then was delayed by the pandemic like many films. It

Movie Review: ‘Candyman’ Is Worthy Of All The Buzz

One of the films I’ve been looking forward to seeing the most this year is the new installment of the Candyman franchise and tonight I finally got my chance. Director Nia DaCosta breathes new life into the franchise that gave me nightmares back in 1992 when the original premiered, telling the story of Daniel Robitaille, played by Tony Todd. The new movie starts off with all of the credits appearing in reverse, which is how you would see it if you were looking in a mirror. It is a fun touch. Candyman begins with Anthony, an artist looking for inspiration. When he hears the tale of Candyman he sets out to investigate, not knowing the hell he’s about to unleash on the newly gentrified Cabrini Green and not knowing that he is connected to the legend. I’ll be honest, I was not sure what to expect from the new film. I was concerned that it might not have the same

Movie Review: Lucky (2021)

In Lucky, Brea Grant stars as May, a popular self-help author. While she appears to have her life together on the surface, it’s far from normal. Every day she faces off against the same attacker. Even after wounding him, he disappears then returns in an attempt to kill her again and again. Why? She has no idea. But on top of the mysterious man, her husband has gone MIA, and her sister-in-law is acting sketchy as hell. S who is this mystery man and why does he coming back? We’ll get to that. As for action, this movie is filled with it. There are a ton of fight scenes. And I have to say I truly appreciate that director Natasha Kermani keeps them realistic. There are no superwomen here, it’s just women. What started out as a thriller turns into something completely different. It turns out Lucky is actually, in my opinion, about the invisible trauma that women face every

Jason Blum Says The New ‘Paranormal Activity’ Movie Is Finished

Paranormal Activity has created one hell of a franchise, featuring six films already. Now, the latest installment, a remake from director William Eubank (The Signal, Underwater), is on its way and according to Jason Blum of Blumhouse, the movie is already made and set to premiere on Paramount Plus in 2022. The movie’s done,” Blum told Collider. “Yeah, we did it.” Originally the franchise was intended to end in 2015, but Paramount had other ideas. Paramount wanted to continue Paranormal Activity, I probably would have left it alone,” Blum states. “So they wanted to continue it, but I thought if they were gonna continue it, you gotta – it was tired, there was no way to continue the road that we’d been down. So I really encouraged all the creative people involved to think of something new. A lot of people who are going to go see the new Paranormal Activity were 3 years old when the first Paranormal Activity

Movie Review: ‘Undergods’

Chino Moya makes his directorial debut with Undergods, an anthology with a unique style of its own, is out this May from Gravitas Ventures. The official synopsis goes like this, “in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic world, K and Z roam the streets on the lookout for corpses and something even more valuable – fresh meat.” Several families linked by common elements. Undergods is laid out as stories told either by the two men or a father weaving a tale for his daughter at bedtime. While we learn much about the families, we only get glimpses into the post-apocalyptic world which I wish we would have learned more about. The bleak film is about family more than anything but not as you would expect. Most of the families are in turmoil and have elements of oppression, depression, and infidelity. Each segment comes off a bit strange, slow, and we are given no reason to feel empathy for the characters, they’re just unlikeable,

Movie Review: ‘Sweet Water’ (2021)

From director Justin McMillan comes Sweet River, out in theaters and on VOD on April 23, 2021, from Gravitas Ventures. The film centers on Hanna (Lisa Kay), a grieving mother whose son was killed by a serial killer, however, the boy’s body was never found, and she never found acceptance. At the beginning of the film, Hanna rents the cottage on the property where the serial killer lived in hopes that she might find her son’s body in the nearby field, not knowing that the land holds many dark secrets. A bit of slow-burn, Sweet River is a thriller at heart, exploring death, grief, acceptance, regret, and how far a parent would go for their child. While there are paranormal aspects of the film, the death of the child takes more of the focus in the story. Lisa Kay did great with the role she was given, which was an emotional one. She was believable, which is always great. Eddie
