‘IT’ Scares Up R Rating

Rejoice, horror fans, as it appears Pennywise won’t be holding back when it comes to visceral terror. Despite the studio trend of the last decade plus to make sure nearly every theatrical horror film gets a tame PG-13 rating, the new adaptation of Stephen King‘s beloved novel ‘IT’ will be rated R when it’s released theatrically this September. The MPAA has cited the highly-anticipated film’s “violence/horror”, blood, and harsh language as the reasons for the restricted rating. Let the crippling coulrophobia commence! ‘IT’ floats into theaters everywhere September 8, 2017.

Heritage Auctions Unleashes A Horde Of Vintage Horror Comics At Upcoming Auction

Whether you’re an avid collector of rare, pre-code horror comics or just someone who enjoys reading about Spider Man duking it out with Count Dracula, this Sunday’s upcoming internet comic sale from Heritage Auctions will have something for you. Though the auction giant holds weekly internet sales in their comics/comic art department, this one stands out due to the plethora of near-forgotten horror titles from the “anything goes” days before the Comics Code toned down comic book terror. No issues of beloved EC titles like ‘Tales from the Crypt’ or ‘The Haunt of Fear’ are on offer, but in their place collectors can find slabbed and CGC-graded issues of highly sought rarities ‘Beware’, ‘Chamber of Chills’, ‘The Thing!’, ‘Out of the Night’, and several others. Also on the auction block are multiple issues of Neil Gaiman’s seminal ‘Sandman’, Marvel’s ‘Tomb of Dracula’, ‘The Munsters’ from Gold Key, and a copy of Marvel Spotlight #5, which features the first appearance of

Sigourney Weaver Again Battles Otherworldly Menace In Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Rakka’

After Neill Blomkamp‘s failed attempt at adding a fifth installment to the ‘Alien’ franchise, the visionary sci-fi director announced the creation of his own film production company, Oats Studios. The first offering from the studio is the short ‘Rakka’, a gritty, post-apocalyptic alien invasion film set in the near future. The film opens somewhere in Texas, in the year 2020. From the outset, each frame absolutely oozes an ultra-bleak, dystopian atmosphere. The world as we know it is no more; in its place is a brutal hellscape in which nearly all of humanity (well, what’s left of it anyhow) is enslaved by a barbaric, if highly advanced species of reptilian extraterrestrials. The aliens erect monolithic mega structures used to generate an atmosphere suitable for their crops and breathing needs, and treat humans as test subjects, or pests to be eliminated. Though primitive in appearance, the aliens seem to possess telekinetic and telepathic abilities, allowing them to use mind control to
