Warning: This post contains spoilers, strong language, and general criticism of the Syfy show 12 Monkeys.

The first thing I was ever asked to write for the ZADF was a review of the Syfy show 12 Monkeys. It took me a while, but I finally got around to writing. . .well okay, so this isn’t actually a review so much as is a list of things about the show that really piss me off. Look I want to like 12 Monkeys, I really do. And I’m not even going to get into the peculiarities and paradoxes of time travel, the whole fate vs. freewill thing, or any of that jazz. No, my issues with this show are pretty specific, and they pretty much all have to do with scenes and stories that take place after the plague. It may seem like knit-picking, but there are just some things about this show that make me want to shout obscenities at my television. Starting with the fact that the future seems to be very cold and bleak place.

‘XX’ A Horror Movie By Women For Women

A talented group of women have come together to make a female driven horror anthology, ‘XX’. The short films were written and directed by Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body), Jennifer Lynch (Surveillance), Jovanka Vuckovic (The Captured) and ‘American Psycho’ writer Mary Harron. ‘XX’ is comprised of four short films tied together by a common element. Sofia Carrillo (La Casa Triste) will be creating the scenes in between the segments, as well as the beginning sequence. Women make up half of the fans of the horror genre, but it’s rare that a movie is made with women in mind. ‘XX’ will be made by women, for women. The cast and synopsis are yet to be released, but with such a talented group of writers I expect ‘XX’ will be a great movie. We will see ‘XX’ released some time in 2016.

A New Update On ‘The Walking Dead’ Spin-off ‘Fear The Walking Dead’

For a while we’ve been referring to the spin-off by it’s working title ‘Cobalt’, now Robert Kirkman has confirmed that ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ is indeed the show’s title. It has now been announced that we will see the trailer for ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ during this Sunday’s season five finale, as if we needed another to plant ourselves in front of the TV Sunday. The good news is, the new series will not be connected to ‘The Walking Dead’ graphic novels. There won’t be any debates on “well this character did this in the comics”, which is a constant issue with ‘The Walking Dead’. Eventually “Fear” will meet the same time line as ‘The Walking Dead’, but that won’t be for many seasons. The show will be told from just before the start of the zombie apocalypse through multiple perspectives, from the view of men, women, the old and the young and will take place in L.A. Some of

Movie Review : The Atticus Institute (2015)

In 1966 a small lab is opened to study psychic abilities. When Judith (Rya Kihlstedt) joins the study in 1976, the scientists are astounded by her abilities. Soon the government seizes the facility, with the intent of weaponizing the woman, but they will get much more than they bargained for. This faux documentary film was written and directed by Chris Sparling and stars William Mapother (The Grudge) as Dr. Henry West, who opened the Atticus Institute. Julian Acosta (The Lords of Salem), Jake Carpenter (Alive), Brian Chenoweth (The Artist), Hannah Cowley (Get Him To The Greek) and Aaron Craven (The Day The Earth Stood Still) star along side ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ actor Carlos E. Campos. I am not a huge fan of “found footage”, but it suited ‘The Atticus Institute”. Actress Rya Kihlstedt (Dexter) did a fantastic job in her role as Judith. If you are expecting big CGI fx, you won’t find any in ‘The Atticus Institute’,but they accomplish
