The Conjuring Is Getting A TV Series From Peter Safran & James Wan

The Conjuring Universe is set to expand beyond the big screen. Warner Bros. announced today that a television series is in the works for HBO Max from Peter Safran and James Wan. “Peter Safran is developing a drama series based on New Line Cinema’s film franchise with Warner Bros. Television,” Deadline reports. According to reports, the series will “continue the story established in the feature films.” James Wan’s Atomic Monster and The Safran Company will produce in association with Warner Bros. TV. Currently, The Conjuring universe includes the movies: The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, Annabelle, Annabelle Comes Home, Annabell: Creation, and The Nun. HBO Max’s upcoming IT prequel series, “Welcome to Derry” has now announced the first four cast members, Variety reports. The first cast members to be announced include Taylour Paige (“Zola,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”), Jovan Adepo (“Babylon,” “Watchmen”), Chris Chalk (“Perry Mason,” “All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt”), and James Remar (“Oppenheimer,” “Megalopolis”). First Look: Jodie Foster Leads The Cast Of “True Detectives: Night Country”

The hit HBO series “True Detective,” which follows a different murder investigation each season, is officially returning for a fourth season, with Oscar-winner Jodie Foster, best known for playing FBI Agent Clarice Starling in Silence of the Lambs, leading the cast. The anthology series, whose fourth season is titled “True Detective: Night Country,” features Foster as Detective Liz Danvers, who works alongside Detective Evangeline Navarro (Keli Reis) to find a group of men who have disappeared from an Alaska research facility. The two detectives must investigate the town’s history in order to unravel the truth behind the disappearance. HBO’s new true crime-inspired limited series, “Love & Death,” is headed your way this March and tells a twisted tale of murder in the Lone Star State. Starring Elizabeth Olsen and Jesse Plemons, the series tells the true story of a murder that took place in North Texas in the ’80s. “This riveting drama, written by David E. Kelley and directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, tells the true story of Candy and Pat Montgomery and Betty and Allan Gore – two churchgoing couples enjoying their smalltown Texas life… until an extramarital affair leads somebody to pick up an axe,” according to HBO. Candy Montgomery, who Olsen will play, was a woman from Wylie who is accused of murdering Betty Gore in June 1980, FOX 4 reports.
