Spoiler-Free Review: V/H/S Mixtape

V/H/S Mixtape is, alas, one of the weaker entries in the V/H/S horror anthology franchise. The idea of a compilation of short fear-fare tales built around music holds a lot of promise, but only the opening and closing entries are memorable. Let’s go segment by segment after discussing the wraparound. Synopses in italics are from official press material. Wrap Segment Gwar hosts skits and music videos in an MTV-style show from hell. It also features music videos directed by Tobias Forge and Flying Lotus. Let’s get this out of the way: The Gwar wraparound is, for me, the absolute worst V/H/S franchise wraparound. Certainly, mileage will vary with Gwar fans and those who enjoy the lowest forms of middle school gross-out humor. If you don’t fit into one of those two camps, you’d be well advised to skip through those segments. The music videos, though interesting, feel out of place in a V/H/S portmanteau, even this one that is music-themed.

Beyond the awesome designs, the construction quality remains top-tier with heavy-duty stitching and super-soft, premium fabrics. Game Review: ‘Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival’

When Saber Interactive first emailed me saying, “We have such sights to show you…”, I knew my wish had come true; someone finally made a game based on Hellraiser, and again, Saber fulfilled my desire and granted me a chance to review it! So is this a dream come true, or a nightmare? This is Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival. The story of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival takes place 20 years after the events of the first two Hellraiser films and follows sexual deviants Aidan and Sunny, who activated the Genesis Configuration (The Puzzle Box), and the Cenobites take Sunny. Aidan now must face the Cenobites along with a bloodthirsty cult to get Sunny back. Now, onto the game itself! When it comes to the game’s controls, they’re alright. Combat is tricky, and I really don’t like how the controls are set up for the quick turn; you have to press down on the stick as you pull back on it, which sometimes

Spoiler-Free Review: Erie (Beyond Fest 2026)

Official synopsis Fall, 1999. In the town of Erie, Pennsylvania, a string of bizarre suicides has quietly unsettled the community. Stella and her brother, Oscar, return to their childhood home armed with nothing but an old camcorder, a few leads, and a desperate need to understand what’s happened to their town . . . and to their sister. What begins as a personal investigation quickly spirals into something dark and unhinged, as they dig deeper into a pattern no one else seems willing to acknowledge. As the investigation twists through conspiracy theories, personal secrets, and local lore, what began as a search for answers becomes a descent into paranoia, grief, and something possibly far more sinister.    Review Director Alison-Eve Hammersley’s 1999-set Erie plays with found footage film expectations and boasts some unusual choices. Though a few elements are likely to have some viewers scratching their heads, overall it is an interesting fear-fare feature.  Stella (Carly Stewart) and her brother Oscar

Movie Review: ‘Evil Dead Burn’ Is a Great Film with One Major Problem

The latest installment in the iconic Evil Dead franchise, Evil Dead Burn, is officially streaming on HBO, and holy hell, is it an absolute blast! Teased as the series’ most savage, terrifying ride yet, this latest entry delivers non-stop demonic mayhem from start to finish. The story follows a grieving widow named Thya as she seeks solace with her in-laws at their secluded family home. Naturally, things go horribly wrong as family members are systematically turned into bloodthirsty Deadites! Let’s dive into it in this review. An Amazing Cast Facing Absolute Carnage Facing off against the Kandarian Demon is a phenomenal ensemble cast. Souheila Yacoub, Tandi Wright, and Hunter Doohan lead it. Rounding out the unfortunate family are Errol Shand and Maude Davey. However, Luciane Buchanan stands out as Thya. Buchanan absolutely nails her performance, striking a perfect balance between deep emotional vulnerability and raw, ferocious determination. If you thought Evil Dead Rise was intense, Burn turns the deadite brutality

Movie Review: Joko Anwar Turns Lockup into Pure Hell in ‘Ghost in the Cell’

Master of Indonesian horror and action cinema Joko Anwar is back to unleash another chaotic, blood-drenched nightmare upon genre fans with Ghost in the Cell. Written and directed by Anwar, the film plunges audiences straight into the iron-clad walls of a high-security prison. Already bursting at the seams with violence. The trailer serves as a fair warning. It is wildly graphic, gloriously NSFW, and promises a total bath of jailhouse carnage. Ruled by a tyrannical correctional officer, the penitentiary’s fragile ecosystem completely shatters when a mysterious new inmate arrives. This triggers a string of stomach-churning murders that leave victims on morbidly elaborate display. Supernatural Slaughter Behind Bars What starts as a volatile turf war between rival gang lords rapidly devolves into a desperate fight for survival. An invisible, otherworldly predator now stalks the prison. Once a full lockdown seals off every possible exit, the terrified inmates realize that the deadliest isn’t the violent psychopath in the adjacent Cell, but a

Spoiler-Free Review: Her Will Be Done

Official synopsis In a remote village, Nawojka grapples with dark urges she believes stem from an ancestral curse. Her world shifts when Sandra moves in next door, offering a glimpse of freedom from her family’s rigid control. Review Director Julia Kowalski’s Her Will Be Done (Que ma volonté soit faite; France/Poland, 2026) is a scathing look at the dominance of males — most of them poorly behaved and some outright dangerous — in a rural French village, and the desire of two young women to break free from that society. At least one of them has occult powers that may make that possible.  Nawojka (Maria Wrobel) is a young woman whose Polish family  has  moved to a rural French village. Though she expresses her wish to go to veterinary school on a scholarship, her father Henryk (Wilciech Skibinski) wants her to stay home and take care of him and her rude brothers Tomek (Przemyslaw Przestrzelski) and Bogdan (Kubya Dyniewicz). Nawojka’s
