An Interview With ‘The Last Voyage Of The Demeter’s Production Designer Edward Thomas

When it comes to upcoming horror movies, one film at the top of everyone’s must-see list is director André Øvredal’s The Last Voyage of the Demeter, sinking its fangs into theaters on August 11, 2023. Inspired by a single chilling chapter, “The Captain’s Log,” from Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula, the movie tells the terrifying story of the merchant ship Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo—fifty unmarked wooden crates—from Carpathia to London, not knowing the horrors that await the crew. While everyone recognizes the names of the director and stars, it takes many others working behind the scene to bring movies to life. Edward Thomas, the Production Designer, is one of those people. I had the pleasure of talking with Edward about his vital role in making this film and what went into bringing the dark world of The Last Voyage of the Demeter to life. You may not realize it, but you have seen Thomas’ work many

Director Samuel Bodin Discusses The Horrors Of ‘Cobweb’ In Our Interview

Truly creepy horror movies are few and far between these days, but one new movie, Cobweb, will leave you jumping at every creek and crack you hear in your house for days. In the film, “eight-year-old Peter (Woody Norman) is plagued by a tapping from inside his bedroom wall – a tapping that his parents insist is all in his imagination. As Peter’s fear intensifies, he believes his parents, played by Lizzy Caplan (“Castle Rock”) and Antony Starr (“The Boys”), could be hiding a terrible, dangerous, deadly secret.” I had the pleasure of discussing Cobweb with its director, Samuel Bodin. While the film marks his directorial film debut, Bodin is no stranger to unnerving horror. He delivered frights, chills, and thrills in his absolutely fantastic and creepy AF 2019 series “Marianne,” which I called “the best thing in horror to happen to Netflix this year” in my review.
