News has come that directors Jen and Sylvia Soska, aka ” The Twisted Twins”, are set to remake David Cronenberg’s 1977 film Rabid. The writer/directors are known not only for their films American Mary, See No Evil 2 and Vendetta, but also as the hosts of GSN’s competition series Hellevator . The Soska sisters also present the annual Women In Horror Massively Big PSA , an anthology that encourages people to donate blood.

Variety announced that John Vidette’s Somerville House Releasing will be making a joint venture with Paul Lalonde and Michael Walker to not only produce the remake but an original series based on Rabid.

In the original film, after a surgery goes awry, a woman develops a taste for human blood. Her victims are turned into vampire-zombie hybrids and soon the infection spreads into a city-wide epidemic.

The Twisted Twins are busy ladies. They have several projects in the works including the film Puppet Killer, which they are producing, starring in and co-wrote, as well as directing the upcoming film Plastic. Follow the twins on Twitter and Facebook for regular updates on their projects.
