A new gorgeous poster (above) for Sion Sono‘s Prisoners of the Ghostland, starring Nicolas Cage (Willy’s Wonderland, Conair), is here featuring Cage standing atop a giant set of tatami gusoku (Japanese armor) that looks like it’s right of the Kofun period. The new art also features a quote from Cage where he calls the film, “The wildest movie I’ve ever made.” Coming from Cage, that says a lot!

Set in the treacherous frontier city of Samurai Town, the film centers on a ruthless bank robber (Nicolas Cage) who has been sprung from jail by the wealthy warlord, The Governor (Bill Moseley), whose adopted granddaughter Bernice (Sofia Boutella) has gone missing. The Governor offers the prisoner his freedom in exchange for retrieving the runaway. Strapped into a leather suit that will self-destruct within five days, the bandit sets off on a journey to find the young woman—and his own path to redemption.
RLJE Films will release Prisoners of the Ghostland, written by AaronHendry and Reza Sixo Safai, in theaters and on VOD and Digital on September 17, 2021.
